Recognize infectious and non-communicable eye diseases

The eye is one of the senses that has an important function. If this sense of vision hurts, then your activities will be disrupted.

Eye disease can be caused by several factors such as dust, viruses, or bacteria. Usually eye diseases caused by viruses and bacteria can be easily transmitted. In order to avoid the spread of eye pain, you should recognize various kinds of eye pain, both infectious or non-communicable, as follows:

1. Conjunctivitis

Conjunctivitis is inflammation or irritation caused by infection of the membranes lining the eyes. Usually this disease is characterized by red eyes, itching, watering, pain, dirt or choking, and blurred vision.
This disease is caused by viruses, bacteria, allergies, dirty contact lenses, or long-term contact lens wear. This type of eye disease can be contagious so it must be treated immediately by compressing the eye with warm water, giving ointments or eye drops as prescribed by a doctor, and making sure your hands are clean before applying an ointment so as not to aggravate the irritation.

2. Trachoma

Trachoma is an eye infection caused by Chlamydia trachomatis bacteria. This bacterium lives in a dirty environment. The use of handkerchiefs or towels that have been contaminated with Chlamydia trachomatis can easily spread trachoma.
This disease is very contagious so you should pay attention to the symptoms that are shown from this disease such as red eyes, the cornea looks cloudy, rubbing, swelling of the eyelids and lymph nodes.

3. Vernalis keratoconjunctivity (KV)

Vernalis keratoconjunctivity is an inflammation of the cornea (clear membrane) caused by allergies. This disease is usually characterized by the appearance of pain, red eyes, itching, watering, rubbing, and swollen eyelids.
This disease will recur and usually recur during the summer. KV sufferers sometimes experience damage to a small portion of the cornea, resulting in the emergence of acute pain.

4. Endophthalmitis

Endophthalmitis is an infection of the inner lining of the eye which results in suppurating eyeballs. Usually characterized by red eyes, pain, and vision become disturbed. This eye disorder usually occurs due to a sharp prick so it needs to be treated immediately because it can cause blindness.

5. Orbital Cellulitis (SO)

Namely inflammation in the tissues around the eyeball caused by several factors such as eye injury, sinus infections, or infections that originate from the teeth. Usually shows symptoms such as red eyes, swollen eyelids, pain, and bulging or swollen eyeballs.

6. Blepharitis

Blepharitis is an inflammation of the eyelid due to the oil glands producing excessive oil. This excessive oil is near the eyelids which are the breeding grounds for bacteria. Blepharitis is characterized by red eyes, pain, heat, itching, watering, wounds on the eyelids and swelling.

7. Dacryocystitis

Dacryocystitis is a blockage that occurs in the ducts that drain tears to the nose. This condition is influenced by allergic factors that cause blockage of the channel. As a result, the eyes become red, painful, swollen, even pus accompanied by fever. As a first aid kit, compress the eye bags with warm water and then consult a doctor immediately.
